Evaluation of the Efficiency of Cassava Peel as a Cement Retarder in Oil Well Cementing

Cementing around the casing in oil and gas wells provides proper zonal isolation, holds place prevents fluid migration. This procedure is an important part of completing process well plugging for abandonment. Retarders are one most additives cementing if desired pumping time cementitious slurry to be achieved. These retarders can extracted from natural sources or chemically synthesized. However, synthesized have significant environmental effects. Thus, this study evaluated efficiency cassava peel powder as a biocompatible retarder its cement properties.Cement was prepared, thickening rheology were tested according API RP 10B2 (2005) procedures. The performance at various concentrations temperatures. Its retardation property compared with those commonly used lignosulfonate-based synthetic retarder, respectively. results obtained showed that 70Bc 02hr: 17mins 0.03% by weight (%bwoc), 20mins 0.06% 02hrs:32mins 0.1%bwoc. 19mins 0.03%, 30mins 03hr: 02mins 0.1% bwoc. For 29mins 31mins 0.06%, 51 mins suggest retarding ability much comparable existing retarders. It also observed demonstrates high-performance concentration response without hampering other properties.
